Great Start!
Hello Everyone!
We had a great start to the Stateline FAST meetings.
We definately need to continue to get the message out that the team has been established. KEEP TALKING TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW! Pass out those flyers.
Secondly, we want to work on getting affiliated with the National Food Allergy Groups (FAAN, AAFA, etc...)
Since we got wrapped up in talking about our little gems I wanted to post a few things that were not covered in the meeting.
1. Check out the links I have posted in the right banner of the blog. You will find a plethora of information from FAAN, AAFA, IFAEA, other food allergy support teams and others.
2. Participate in the Children's Memorial Food Allergy Study. We need to support research in food allergies. Find out more at http://www.childrensmrc.org/allergy/
3. I have decided that I'm not going to be putting myself through the hassle of the unknown with no ingrediant lists to check on the Halloween candy. So, instead of trick-or-treating for candy, my kids will raise funds for FAAN’s food allergy education and research programs. I will give them special treats at home, they'll still get to dress up & have fun and food allergy research will benefit. To participate yourself, check out http://www.foodallergy.org/Support/Halloween/index.html
4. POCA of DuPage County is having a resource event. We should all go. They will have more than 40 companies from around the country are expected to showcase their products and information. See the details on their website. The link is http://www.pocaofdupage.org/
I had a great time last night and enjoyed everyone's participation. We missed those of you that couldn't be there. Please post any questions or concerns you may have. That's what the blog is set up for.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the show on the food network tonight regarding food allergies. I think it is on at 9pm. It is called edible enemies. It originally aired a couple of nights ago and I taped it. It was really good and info was accurate. I didn't get to see the last 15 mins or so but I think it is worth seeing. Tell all of your friends and family!!
